CB West graduate Luke Benson signs with LA Chargers as NFL undrafted free agent

Central Bucks West graduate Luke Benson signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft.

Benson, a 6-foot-4, 233-pound tight end, impressed scouts with his time of 4.43 seconds in the 40-yard dash and his vertical jump of 35 inches at the Georgia Tech Pro Day.

Benson spent three seasons at Syracuse and two at Georgia Tech, accumulating 37 catches for 430 yards (11.6 average) and five touchdowns in 59 games during his NCAA playing career.

Benson earned All-Suburban One League first-team honors as a junior and senior at tight end for CB West and also finished second in the 100-meter dash (10.90) at the PIAA Championships during his senior outdoor track season.

In a July 2023 interview prior to his final collegiate campaign, Benson said playing in the NFL was his ultimate goal.

"Through the last couple years, I haven't done great, statistically, but it's something I dreamt about as a kid growing up (in Chalfont)," he said. "I'm going to keep chasing that."

Chargers rookie camp runs from May 10-13.

"Very excited and grateful for the opportunity," Benson said Monday. "Really looking forward to getting out there and getting to work."
