Catch a different take on some of your favorite music from the past this weekend

Not much happening on Thursday night, but as we all emerge from our turkey comas, the weekend is pretty busy, and next week is packed. Friday night finds rapper Earl Sweatshirt setting up shop at Boston's Royale. Saturday's Booty Vortex show at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke will give you a great opportunity to dance off some excess calories with their disco era music. Sunday's docket is a bit sparce as people prepare to return to work after the long weekend, but Jason Bonham brings his Led Zeppelin Experience to The House of Blues in Boston.

Looking into the future, Mariah Carey will be bringing her trademark holiday sounds to the TD Garden in the middle of next month.

FRIDAY, Nov. 24: Band plays tribute to three different acts

For the seventh year in a row, Christian rocker Michael Sweet and his band do their holiday season show at The Spire Center in Plymouth. Pink Talking Fish – the band that pays tribute to the music of Talking Heads, Pink Floyd, and Phish – jams at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke. National legends Roomful of Blues heat up The Narrows Center in Fall River. The C-Note in Hull has a benefit featuring six local rock bands, including Highwater Haulers. A Band of Killers is not about homicide, but rather a quintet of Boston's best, including guitarists Tim Gearan and Johnny Trama, at The Sinclair in Cambridge. SATURDAY, Nov. 25: Band inspired by Boston's bad boys takes stage

The disco era lives again when Booty Vortex gets down at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke. New England blues icon James Montgomery and his band are always invigorating, at The Spire Center in Plymouth. Draw the Line's acclaimed Aerosmith tribute at The C-Note in Hull. The annual Thanksgiving week reunion of The Schemers – winners of the 1983 WBCN Rock Rumble and fronted by Mark Cutler – takes over The Met Cafe in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. All the Feels rocks The House of Blues in Boston. Lil Tjay raps at MGM Music Hall in Boston. Australian comedian Josh Thomas headlines Brighton Music Hall. 'Nuff Said rocks The Next Page Cafe in Weymouth. North Carolina DJ Nghtmre holds court at Big Night Live in Boston. One of the region's best and most unsung talents is blues-rocker Neal McCarthy and his band at The Narrows Center in Fall River. Newton's sublime folksinger Alice Howe performs at The Burren in Somerville. Hania Rani is the Polish pianist/songwriter touring behind her hot "Ghosts" single, at The Sinclair in Cambridge. Wolfmaster roars into The Paradise Rock Club in Boston with some hard rock.

SUNDAY, Nov. 26: Rockland venue hosting blues jam

On Sunday afternoon, don't forget the 4 p.m. blues jam hosted by the Michele Rockwell Band at Players in Rockland. Sunday night, catch Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience at The House of Blues in Boston; or check out pop/jazz performer Demola the Violinist, at City Winery in Boston through Monday.

DEC. 2: The South Shore's beloved country-rockers The Swinging Steaks have a new record to unveil at The Narrows Center in Fall River; Boston roadhouse blues phenoms GA-20 return to Brighton Music Hall; R&B hitmaker Doja Cat is at TD Garden in Boston; Beantown favorites Buffalo Tom reunite to rock The Paradise Rock Club in Boston; Streetlight Manifesto rocks Roadrunner in Boston; and The Lone Bellow's rootsy rock is at The Sinclair in Cambridge.

DEC. 3: Get an early start for the City Winery in Boston where the Sunday noontime brunch features Pembroke's Matt York doing his program of Willie Nelson music; hip hop trio The Flatbush Zombies rip it up at Big Night Live in Boston.

FURTHER AHEAD:Mariah Carey brings her holiday concert to TD Garden in Boston on Dec. 11. And 'Yellowstone' heart-throb Luke Grimes ("Casey Dutton") has a thriving second career as a singer/songwriter, and he's headlining Roadrunner in Boston on Dec. 16.
