The BBC has confirmed Casualty will be releasing episodes early.

Much like fellow BBC soap EastEnders has done all year, Casualty will now be releasing all new episodes early at 6am on the day of their TV transmission — starting on Saturday, December 30, 2023.

Elinor Lawless (who plays Stevie Nash) announced on Instagram: "Even before you put the kettle on, or had your overnight oats, or your matcha latte, or whatever it is you like to do in the morning, maybe after your run, I don't run in the morning, you can squeeze in a Casualty.

"But, and I ask you from the bottom of my heart, no spoilers please. Seriously, have some respect!"

It was recently confirmed that the continuing drama would finally be returning on December 30, after being off the air since September.

Outgoing producer Jon Sen has also announced that Elinor Lawless's character Stevie will have a central role as Casualty comes back on the air.

"My final episodes will go out in 2024, and we come back on towards the end of the year with a really exciting storyline, which involves Stevie grappling with the PTSD she feels from her upbringing and that dovetails perfectly with an ongoing issue with the hospital," Sen revealed.

"So, it's a really exciting story that we're telling over the next, kind of, three months and that comes back towards the end of the year."

There will be a huge sendoff for Charlie Fairhead as part of the producer changeover, since cast member Derek Thompson will be exiting Casualty after a staggering 37 years on screen.

With one legendary character leaving Casualty, producers have brought on African Queens: Njinga star Adesuwa Oni as Emergency Department nurse Ngozi — who has recently moved to the UK from Nigeria.

Casualty returns on Saturday, December 30 on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
