New Castle residents charged with dealing meth, Xanax after drug task force raid

NEW CASTLE, Ind. — Two New Castle residents face a variety of drug-related charges after members of the Henry County Area Drug Task Force served a search warrant at a southside house.

Amber Dawn Poe, 40, and Jamis Linn Purvis, 54, are each charged in Henry Circuit Court 1 with dealing in meth, dealing in a controlled substance, maintaining a common nuisance, unlawful possession of a legend drug, possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

According to an affidavit, on March 21 — the same day Poe and Purvis were taken into custody after a traffic stop — task force members served a warrant at a home in the 2200 block of South 19th Street and seized eight bags of meth, another bag containing cocaine, and numerous other controlled substances, including 62 pills of Alprazolam, a prescription medication used to control anxiety disorders, and 113 Xanax bars

Also recovered was drug paraphernalia — including syringes, digital scales and smoking pipes — along with a wallet holding Purvis' driver's license and a medical pill holder with Poe's name on it.

Poe continued to be held in the Henry County Jail on Tuesday under a $65,500 surety bond and a cash bond of $5,800. Purvis was not listed in an online list of inmates at the jail.
