Carson Steele, 2020 Mr. Football from Center Grove, NFL Draft profile

Carson Steele, the 2020 IndyStar Mr. Football from Center Grove High School, is eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft after three college seasons: two at Ball State and one at UCLA.

At 6-1 and 225 pounds, Steele is seen as a "workhorse" back but not a breakaway threat. Considering that relatively few running backs get drafted (18 over 7 rounds in 2023), Steele might have to go the undrafted free agent route.

Here's what Steele, who has been billed "the most interesting man in college football," posted on social media: "Ever since I was little, I've tried to push myself harder and harder every day. The way I've done that is by surrounding myself with the people who do the same and love me for who I am," he said in the post.

"To my mother, father and my sister I just want to say thank you guys for always being in my corner, even when things didn't go my way, you guys are the reason why I've been able to have success in my life."

How much can Carson Steele squat?

He can reportedly squat 675 pounds and bench press 450. Not surprisingly, he has been working with heavy weights since age 7. Not long after, he also pushed cars.

"I had learned that (pushing a car), it's like pushing a sled once it gets moving," said his father, Joseph. "The neighbors would always look at us like we're crazy, like the car was always broke down or something because I had him pushing it down the road."

What high school did Carson Steele attend?

Steele won IndyStar Mr. Football honors in 2020 while leading Center Grove to the first of its three consecutive Class 6A state championships. He had 1,659 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns as a senior, and 5,907 career yards with 82 TDs.

Carson Steele has a pet alligator

Crocky-J remains in Greenwood, and while Steele never would've imagined he would've grown up with a pet alligator, he supposes it fits.

"It suits me well having an alligator," Steele said in 2022. "Everybody since I was young, (people are) like, 'It doesn't surprise me that you're the one who has an alligator.'"
