Legette is athletic with great size. He led the Gamecocks in 2023 with 71 receptions and seven touchdowns. He ranked eighth in the FBS with 1,255 receiving yards. His breakout season in his fifth year at South Carolina displayed his speed and size as he has great foot speed which propels his vertical separation with defenders. He has good hands and is productive with his body to win tight defensive matchups but could improve on his horizontal game and route running. He’s versatile and exceeded both in the slot and out wide, and he locates the ball well in the air.

Legette’s breakout game in 2023 season was against Mississippi St where he recorded two touchdowns and five receptions for 189 yards. The first touchdown of the day against the Bulldogs in September put Legette’s foot speed on the map, where his 76-yard reception maxed out at 22.3 mph. Legette opened the second half with a 75-yard touchdown catch. In November against Jacksonville St, Legette had nine receptions for 217 yards and two touchdowns, piggybacking on his offensive display in September. He was huge in the 17-14 win over Kentucky two weeks later where his 17-yard touchdown on a 62-yard drive in the fourth quarter sealed the upset for South Carolina.
Xavier Legette NFL combine measurables
Legette’s speed shined at the combine, where he registered a 4.39 40-yard dash. He logged a 40 vertical and 10-6 broad jump. He scored 74 in production, ranking him 12th for WRs at the 2024 combine, an athleticism score of 82 which ranked 14th and a total score of 79, ranking 13th among WR at the combine.
