Carbs are amazing. This new Mediterranean restaurant in Coral Gables thinks so, too

A famous person, or maybe it was just me, once said: Pasta is life.

And so, one of the newest restaurants in Coral Gables is serving up life.

The Crown Pasta & Risotto, now open on Miracle Mile in the space that used to be Tempo, serves more than piles of carbs, of course. Its menu is Mediterranean influenced. You can order filet mignon, a ribeye, rack of lamb, a whole branzino or choose from such appetizers as octopus with a smoked red sauce and herbs, foie gras with brown butter brioche or smoked wagyu tartare.

But pasta and risottos are the restaurant’s main focus, and for that we are thankful. Two Venezuelan chefs bring these vivid carb dreams to life: Jhonny Delgado, who trained at B Bistro Bakery in Brickell, and Adofo Pucci, who has worked at Red Rooster, Juvia, Doma and Leku.

Expect such pasta as tagliolini al tartufo with black truffle butter; that beautiful dish of perfect simplicity, cacio e pepe, with parmesan and black pepper, plus gnocchi with short rib ragu and linguini with lemon and clams.

The risottos include a dish with fried squid, another with butternut squash and stracciatella and raspberry gel. There’s also a risotto cacio e pepe.

The restaurant, which has indoor and outdoor seating, aims for simplicity yet sophistication, says co-owner Jesus Menesus.

“When the opportunity came to take over the space on Miracle Mile, we didn’t hesitate,” he said in a statement. “The dishes chefs Delgado and Pucci create together are irresistible.”
