Cape Fear, Terry Sanford baseball repeats as U8, All American conference champs

United 8 and All American conference tournaments have officially wrapped, and there's no change from last year's champions to this year's.

Cape Fear and Terry Sanford both came into conference tourney games with the No. 1 seed, and either tied or took the first place in their respective conferences. Cape Fear finished in the U8 at 14-2, and Terry Sanford concluded at 16-1.

After tonight's results, the Colts baseball team repeated as United 8 conference tournament champions in a shutout win over Purnell Swett 7-0. Cape Fear scored all of it's runs in the first two innings of the game, while Caden Jeffrey threw a complete game and allowed only 3-hits and struck out eight Rams batters.

Terry Sanford went back-and-forth with Harnett Central in all seven innings, but were able to squeeze out the win with big help from Brent Smith, and Josh Mozingo who both smashed solo homers to left field in consecutive innings. The Bulldogs scored in each inning except the sixth to go on to defeat Harnett Central 7-5, and repeat as All American conference champions.

As of today, both Cape Fear and Terry Sanford are ranked in the top three of the 3A East, Cape Fear at No. 2 and Terry Sanford at No. 3 behind J.H. Rose. Now, both Fayetteville powerhouses await to hear where they'll be placed in this year's NCHSAA 3A State playoffs.
