Cancelled Heels Is Actively Seeking a New Home, Says Showrunner

There may still be some fight left in Heels, which was cancelled after two seasons.

Showrunner Mike O’Malley, who pulled double duty as FWD promoter/main antagonist Charlie Gully in the wrestling drama, confirmed that they’re actively seeking a new home for the show.

“I really do think it’s going to have a life someplace else,” O’Malley told Entertainment Weekly.

Season 2 ended on a massive cliffhanger, with Jack Spade (played by Stephen Amell) injuring himself during his Last Man Standing match with brother Ace (Alexander Ludwig) as The Condamned. Jack connected with a Shooting Star Press from the top rope — the same move his father Tom chided him for attempting before his death — and landed incorrectly. He let Ace take the win, and in the aftermath, revealed to his wife Staci that he couldn’t feel his legs.

When it comes to that shocking ending, O’Malley noted that they “did not intend, nor do we intend” for the finale to be “the last episode of the show.”

If the series was picked up for Season 3 at a different network, the Heels showrunner teased that Jack is “going to have to deal with the aftermath of that injury… He is at that moment significantly injured. And the extent of what that injury is, we don’t know.”
