Camp trailer fire kills one in Waterflow

One person died and another was injured in an early-morning fire in Waterflow on April 3, according to San Juan County Fire & Rescue officials.

Firefighters responded to a report of a blaze on County Road 6940 in Waterflow at 4 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release, and arrived to find a camp trailer on fire with an occupant still inside.

The fire was extinguished quickly, but the trailer’s occupant, whose name has not been released, was found dead inside. A second occupant was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries and has been released.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated by the San Juan County Joint Fire & Explosion Investigation Task Force.

The Farmington Fire Department also responded to the fire.
