Cameron Mathison Gives Health Update After Being Four Years Cancer-Free (Exclusive)

Cameron Mathison is celebrating another health milestone!

On Friday, the General Hospital star told ET that he's four years cancer-free and feeling good.

"I'm doing great," the former ET host said during the 50th annual Daytime Emmy Awards. "I had my 4-year cancer checkup so I'm healthy, cancer free doing great. I'm stronger than I've ever been. I've got more energy than I've ever been. I worked really hard at it."

He added, "It's a whole lifestyle. There's a lot of ice baths. There's a lot of stuff."

In 2019, Mathison revealed that he was diagnosed with kidney cancer and underwent an operation to treat it. Luckily, it was caught early and was the least aggressive form of the disease. At the time, the All My Children star said the doctor credited the diagnosis to his healthy diet and lifestyle, something the actor has no problem putting on display via social media.

"I love spreading that on Instagram just to kind of motivate other people," he told ET about his health-centered content. "You know there's a lot to it."

Mathison's bill of great health is coming with him into the new year as he embarks on a series of new professional and personal projects.

"It's gonna be busy," he said.  "I'm really fortunate. I got a really cool game show coming out on GSN (Game Show Network). I've got General Hospital happening. I've got I signed a movie deal with Great American. I got some Christmas movie. So I'm really fortunate."

The actor -- who shares children Lucas and Leila with Vanessa Mathison -- is gearing up to send them to college.

"Family's beautiful," he added. "Kids are good. Kids are going off to college. I mean lots of stuff."

As for his time on the long-running soap opera, where he plays Drew Cain, he's not going anywhere.

"No I'm not leaving General Hospital," he confirms to ET. "I don’t understand where they all come from. I guess because my character went off to Australia because I was working on a show for a minute. But I'm back. Just a break. Just doing my thing."
