Two Midlands girls and two boys squads wrapped up region championships on Tuesday night.

Defending state champion Camden and Lower Richland girls won their region titles in blowouts while Cardinal Newman and Blythewood boys won theirs in different ways.

Girls

Camden 74, Crestwood 39: South Carolina signee Joyce Edwards led four Camden players in double figures as the Bulldogs (23-2, 10-0) defeated the Knights to win the Region 6-3A championship. It was Camden’s fourth straight region title. The Bulldogs have won 34 straight region games with their last region loss coming in 2020.

Edwards finished with 31 points, eight rebounds, six assists, three steals and three blocks. Braylin Mungo added 13 points while Morgan Champion had 11 and Zyasia Carter scored 10.

Lower Richland 51, Orangeburg-Wilkinson 19: Pa’nanjala Curry scored 15 points and Chi’nya Isaac had 14 as the fourth-ranked Diamond Hornets won their second straight Region 5-3A championship. It was the fifth straight game that Lower Richland held its opponents to under 20 points.

Boys

Cardinal Newman 42, Hammond 40: Elton Smith Jr’s basket at the buzzer gave Cardinal Newman boys the SCISA Region 1-4A championship. The Cardinals finish tied with Augusta Christian but hold the tiebreaker because of the margin of victory between the two teams.

Amarii King led Cardinal Newman with 18 points. The Cardinals finish the regular season with games against Trinity Collegiate and Gray Collegiate.

Blythewood 51, Rock Hill 46: The Bengals took care of business on the court and got some help to clinch the Region 3-5A championship. Blythewood’s win coupled by Spring Valley’s 70-65 win over Nation Ford gave the Bengals their first region championship since 2018.

TJ Lewis led Blythewood with 14 points. Austin Coker and Will Olden each added 13.
