When we last saw our favorite citizens of Hope Valley, Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) and Lucas' (Chris McNally) romance seemed to be done... for now. As Lucas left Hope Valley to pursue a political career against Governor Balfour (Mark Brandon), Elizabeth finds herself drawn to Nathan (Kevin McGarry) in a way she didn't see coming. But as she figures out where her heart lies, she gets a nerve-wracking message from Bill (Jack Wagner) about Lucas. Something has happened to him during his time away from her, and fans need to know if he'll make it out alive.

Will there be a season 11 of When Calls the Heart?
It looks like we'll be heading back to Hope Valley because When Calls the Heart officially got renewed for season 11! The show revealed the big news back in February, when star and co-executive producer Erin Krakow posted the announcement on Instagram.
"🥹 @wcth_tv Season 11! I’m over the moon!" she wrote on February 22. "Thank you so much @hallmarkchannel and thank you to our #Hearties - the best fans in the universe!"
At the time, people were ecstatic to learn that more episodes of When Calls the Heart were on the way and made sure to let Erin know of their excitement in the comments. "Congratulations 🎈🍾🎊!!" one person wrote on Instagram. "Yahoooooo!!! I’m soooooo happy!!" another exclaimed. "Congratulations on season 11 girly! We are beyond excited to see what Elizabeth and everyone else in Hope Valley is up to. As you said: There are many more stories to tell! 🫶🏼," a different follower added.
When will When Calls the Heart season 11 premiere?
Unfortunately, there is no answer to this question just yet. But co-creator Brian Bird did give an update on the status of When Calls the Heart season 11, talking about the show's future release date on the Hearties to Hearties podcast in mid-October.
“It’s in conversation. We are hopeful that it will be sooner rather than later," he explained. "However, as our partner Brad Krevoy says, we’re just happy to be on the air, and we will land in Hearties’ homes whenever we can get them and whenever they’ll let us. It’s definitely an ongoing conversation right now."
That wasn't the only thing Brian discussed in relation to new installments. While the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike has caused many projects to pause production, When Calls the Heart was one of the few granted by an interim agreement with the actor's union to continue working. Despite the stroke of luck, Brian said Hallmark has the ultimate say on when the new season will premiere.
"The strikes clearly dropped a bomb on the whole industry, and so that actually has some impact on that question," he added. "It may or may not help us or change things, but we don’t get to make those decisions. The network gets to decide when they want to air it, so we will show up whenever they allow us."
Guess we'll have to keep our fingers crossed for when the announcement comes out!

Although the show left views with quite the cliffhanger, Erin told TVInsider that there's still a lot more to explore with our favorite group of citizens.

"I can say that the good news is that those questions will be answered," she said in mid-October. "And pretty much right away, so we’re not gonna have to wait too long in season 11 to get those answers."
That's good to know because one of the storylines everyone needs more of is Elizabeth's love triangle between her, Lucas and Nathan. As Erin spoke to Entertainment Tonight, she said that despite Lucas and Elizabeth's love for one another, their paths are clearly divulging in different directions... and toward different people.
"Lucas always had these big dreams and grand gestures... He is excited about moving to the big city and making these changes for the town, for the community. Elizabeth doesn't really share those dreams," she said to the outlet in mid-October. "That is totally OK, because they can be individuals who still really care about each other but aren't necessarily meant to be together forever... I think that there is just maybe something happening in Elizabeth's heart that she can't quite deny as much as she once tried."
