‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ Set at Activision, First Teaser Revealed

The “Call of Duty” franchise is expanding. Microsoft’s Activision revealed new title “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” Thursday, along with a teaser for the previously unannounced first-person-shooter game.

Though no other details were revealed, the game developer promises more info to come out of Xbox Games Showcase in June, which will be followed by a “Black Ops 6 Direct” presentation. Both events will be livestreamed.

“Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” is the first new “Call of Duty” game to be released since “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” launched in 2020. That title in the military game franchise was developed by Treyarch and Raven Software and published by Activision.

The first “Call of Duty” game debuted in 2003, developed by Infinity Ward. Multiple spinoffs and formats have been released since coming from other developers including then by Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games.

The 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, which will begin streaming at 10 a.m. PT on June 9, will mark the company’s first showcase post-merger with Activision Blizzard, and will include news from across studios Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios, in addition to titles from Microsoft’s third-party partners.

The Xbox Games Showcase takes place during the weekend of video game industry convention Summer Game Fest, which kicks off June 7 in Los Angeles.
