California Siberian Husky Mix Abandoned With Box of Puppies Needs a Forever Home

Mission Viejo Animal services/Facebook

Animal shelters all over the world are doing everything possible to save animals in need and the Mission Viejo Animal Services in California is no different. Yesterday they posted a terrible case were a beautiful Husky mix dog was found abandoned to a tree, with no water and no food.

To make matters worse? Her seven puppies were found in a box next to her.

The Mission Viejo Animal Services Facebook page shared, "At 1.5 years old, Angel, a Siberian husky-German shepherd mix, has already had a tough start to life. She was found tied to a tree at night in an Aliso Viejo park with her seven puppies in a box next to her … no food, water or way to protect her or her pups from danger. Mission Viejo Animal Services is investigating this abandonment but hasn’t yet determined who could have committed this crime."

The post explains that all the dogs were bathed and received veterinary care, and the puppies are now in their forever home. Mama Angel, however, is still waiting for a family to call her own, and the post says, "She is truly one of the nicest, kindest dogs we have ever met. She rolls over in submission when getting pets and will crawl up into your lap for attention. Simply put, Angel is a great dog."

It's beyond awful to think what could have happened to this poor dog and her puppies left out there with no protection. We are so happy they are safe and sound and we hope Angel finds her forever home soon and they find the jerk that dumped these poor animals.

What To Do If You Absolutely Have To Re-Home Your Pet

It goes without saying, you should never leave your pet anywhere. That includes leaving it in a box at your veterinarian's office or at your local shelter. Do not abandon your pet in the country, or in a supermarket parking lot, or at a park somewhere. Ever.

Before you decide to re-home your pet you should really think about the reasons why. If you are re-homing due to sickness or a death in the family, these are valid and understandable and heartbreaking reasons. If you are re-homing your pet due to a behavioral issue, seek help from a professional first because most behavior problems in pets can be corrected. Your local animal shelter may even offer free help to correct any issues that are making you consider surrendering your pet.

If you absolutely must find a new home for your pet, ask friends or family if they are interested in adopting your animal. You can try re-homing groups on social media but be sure you check references and consider asking for a small re-homing fee so you can make sure your pet is going to a good home.

Contact your local Humane Society or animal shelter and ask about their re-homing intake process. Due to shelter overcrowding there may be a waiting period. You should make a monetary donation to the organization that will try and find your pet a new home, but at the very least you should offer volunteer time in exchange for this service.

Whatever you do, don't just dump your animal somewhere.
