California International Marathon to close these Sacramento-area streets. Here’s when
The California International Marathon returns this weekend, bringing several road closures to the Sacramento area.
Some streets will shut down for more than 42 hours ahead of Sunday’s “fastest course in the West.”
Ninth Street between N Street and L Street will close from Friday to Sunday, as well as the Capitol Mall between Eighth and Ninth streets. Eighth and 10th streets between N and L streets will close from Saturday to Sunday.
Most of Fair Oaks Boulevard will be closed on race day.
The 26-mile run starts at 7 a.m. on Sunday near Folsom Dam and ends at the State Capitol. Thousands of participants are given a six-hour window to cross the finish line by 1 p.m.
Those who run out of time will be transported to the end of the race.
Remember: Only cars transporting participants to the start line near Folsom Lake will be allowed past the Eureka Road intersection, CIM states.
The following roads will take effect on Sunday, when athletes are expected to run from Folsom to Sacramento, according to the marathon website. Expect congested traffic.
