California cop arrested in double homicide of Bay Area couple

A Bay Area cop has been accused of fatally shooting a married couple at their home in “execution-style” killings.

Devin Williams Jr., 24, turned himself in Wednesday after a brief manhunt, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Williams is an Alameda County sheriff’s deputy.

Devin Williams Jr. was arrested Wednesday.

The couple, a 58-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, were found dead in their Dublin home shortly after midnight on Wednesday, police said. They were not identified further.

Cops said that Williams knew the two victims, according to the Chronicle. Investigators had not yet figured out their exact relationship.

“This was not a random crime,” Alameda County cop Ray Kelly told USA Today.

Police said Williams used his department-issued gun in the shooting and then tossed it in a rural area, the East Bay Times reported. The gun has not been found.

Shortly after authorities issued a press release announcing their search for Williams — calling him “armed and dangerous” — Williams called and offered to turn himself in.

Williams has been with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office for about a year and was not yet a field officer, according to the Chronicle. He mostly worked security at courthouses and jails in the county.

Investigators said Williams got off an overtime shift at a jail around 11 p.m. and drove to the couple’s house to kill them, the East Bay Times reported.

Locals in the 60,000-person city of Dublin, about 30 miles east across the bay from San Francisco, were stunned.

“Nothing happens on this street,” resident Charles Goshey told the East Bay Times. “The only thing that happens here is kids draw on the streets (in sidewalk chalk).”
