Calf-y buzz: ACU students ride herd at annual intramural rodeo
Abilene Christian University held its Intramural Rodeo on April 25.
Sponsored by the ACU Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Department, the 68th annual competition pitted social clubs against each other in competitions modeled after regular rodeo events.
Calf wrestling was done not from horseback, but from two guys trying to hold onto a calf as it came bucking out of the chute.
Often it was the animal who seemed to win though a couple of times the young men did manage to get the animal to lay on the ground — if only for a split second.
Men and women both tried their hand at riding calves out of the chute while something similar to a wild mare race — except with calves — was attempted by students as well.
It all looked like fun though one might suspect it was more fun to watch than to experience.
