Cake Company of Canyon hosts cookie decorating with Santa
CANYON - The Cake Company of Canyon held its second annual cookie decorating with Santa event Saturday, giving more than 100 children and parents a chance to meet with Santa to show off their best work.
As children walked into the workshop area, they were presented with two sugar cookies, various frostings and limitless imagination for their design. Santa even walked about the room to inspire their designs.
Mandy Williams, the owner of the Cake Company of Canyon that has been open in Canyon since 1999, spoke about the event.
“We worked with Santa’s busy schedule so that families and children can decorate cookies for Santa’s visit and get a chance to meet and take a picture with Santa,” Williams said. “I just love community events, especially ones where families can come together and have fun before the holidays. Not everybody has a fun, easy life, so if we can bring a little bit of joy in the things that we do, it is worth it.”
Chrystal Troster brought her kids to the event for a second year since it went over so well with the family the previous year. Everyone enjoyed decorating cookies last year with Santa, she said.
“My children just love this event, decorating the cookies and meeting Santa,” Troster said. “This is a fun holiday thing for all of us to enjoy just a few days from Christmas that we can share as a family."
