Caitlyn Jenner Makes Her Opinion On Lia Thomas Very Clear
Former Summer Olympics star Caitlyn Jenner continues to speak out on transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.
Thomas, a transgender swimmer from Penn, was an NCAA champion this past season. Thomas, who previously competed for the men’s team, became a part of the women’s team after transitioning and undergoing hormone therapy.
The Penn swimmer’s success has sparked a lot of conversations about transgender athletes in the sports world.
Jenner, who transitioned from male to female, wrote an op-ed for the New York Post.
“That is why the case of transgender NCAA swimmer Lia Thomas has resonated so strongly with me. I have always said that Lia should live her life as authentically as possible. But my hope is that everyone — Lia, yes, but also biologically-born female athletes around the world — can feel that way every single day.
We must protect women’s sports. At all costs. What Lia has done, beating biological women to win a Division I national championship, is anathema to what sports represents and the spirit of competition,” she wrote.
