BASEBALL

Division I

Cranston West 5, Lincoln 2

Ethan Madden smacked a 2-run single in the third inning and Brendan Smith matched that with a 2-run single in the sixth, and another run scored on an error, as the Falcons held off the Lions to even their record at 4-4. Lincoln got its runs on a Jaiden Torres single and an error in the second inning. Logan Taylor allowed the two runs while striking out 4 in 5⅓ innings and Nick DiLorenzo finished up for the save. Lincoln slips to 1-5.

North Kingstown 8, Cumberland 3

North Kingstown scored 7 of its 8 runs in the third inning and coasted to a win. The big hit in the game was a grand slam off the bat of junior Ronan Gately. Ben Napoli, the Skippers' starter, pitched 5 innings and allowed only 1 run on 4 hits to pick up the win. Ben Davis and Quincy Rome each had two hits for NK. Luke Plummer had a double for the Clippers in the loss.

Portsmouth 4, Pilgrim 3

Matt Nolan, Chase Blyth, Avery Amaio and Damon Owen each drove in a run and Portsmouth broke a tie with a single tally in the top of the seventh inning to edge Pilgrim, now 4-3. Derek Asciolla had a triple and a single and 2 RBI and Henry Kearns had a double and a run batted in for Pilgrim, which falls to 1-5.

Scituate's Kate Nickerson was in complete control, giving up three hits while striking out 18, as the Spartans took care of Burrillville/North Smithfield, 18-1, on Tuesday afternoon.

BOYS LACROSSE

Division I

Portsmouth 5, Barrington 4

The Patriots notched their first win of the season when goalie Jack Colna (15 saves) made a final stop against Barrington attacker Nick Spaight. Portsmouth (1-5) was led by Teddy Gersen with 2 goals, with scores also coming from Rafe Dionne, Chase Pascoe and Shane Victorino. For the Eagles (2-4), Spaight had 2 goals, Onson Tieu and Jake Ignall had a goal apiece.

Mount St. Charles 13, East Greenwich 11

Nate Murray and Jamie Glance each found the back of the net 4 times and Frank Ryan scored 3 goals as the Mounties upended the Avengers. Goalie Dominic Tortolano recorded 12 saves in the win

Division III

Westerly 16, Burrillville 2

Brayden Antoch and Matt Horton each fired in 3 goals and Alex Luzzi, Mike Gervasini and Ian Morissette each had a pair as the division-leading Bulldogs cruised to their seventh win without a loss. The Broncos, now 1-5, got 2 goals from Nolan Serafin.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Division III

East Providence 8, Bay View 7

Kenna Wigginton and Alyssa Karalekas each had hat tricks, helping the Townies escape with a win over the Bengals. Despite the loss, Annabelle Tracy had a strong performance, scoring 5 of Bay View's goals.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Division I

MSC/North Smithfield 3, Hendricken 0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-18)

Connor DeSousa led the way with 6 kills and 5 digs, Caden Sullivan provided 27 assists and Ben Sousa had 7 digs in a victory for the co-op team, which improves to 6-2. Hendricken is now 3-5.

La Salle 3, Classical 0 (25-14, 25-21, 29-27)

Strong outings by Ephraim Abhulime (17 kills and 4 digs), Ali Abdur-Razzak (35 assists, 4 digs, 2 blocks and an ace), Connor Lewis (8 kills, and two blocks) and Jahmir Evans (10 kills, 3 digs and an ace) helped the Rams sweep the the Purple. For Classical, Teddy Wallace delivered 13 kills and James Men dished for 35 helpers in the loss.

North Kingstown 3, Chariho 0 (25-17, 25-9, 25-14)

Quinlan Fahy had 5 kills and 10 blocks for the Skippers (7-1), Ryan Rathbun recorded 7 kills and 3 aces, and Ryan Harrington had 17 assists in the victory. For Chariho (3-5), Kody Poplaski had 12 assists and 6 digs in the loss.

Division II

Cranston West 3, West Warwick 0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-19)

Chris Harvey led the Falcons with 15 kills and 2 blocks, and Ashton Mak recorded 8 digs and 28 assists in West's win. For the Wizards, Colin Kelly had 10 kills and a dig, while Daniel Alvarez had 20 digs. Cranston West improves to 7-0 and West Warwick falls to 1-6.

Westerly 3, Central 0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-22)

Jack Kenyon had 8 digs, 12 kills and 5 aces in the Bulldogs' victory James Manfredi recorded 12 assists and 4 kills. Westerly improves to 3-3; Central slips to 2-4.
