Hello A-J readers!

So, as this was a holiday week, there was not too much business news, besides shopping. Instead of the usual business review, I'm going to review the incredible work of my coworkers.

Alex Driggars, government and policy reporter, tackled an interesting issue for rural communities around the holidays, and every day - living in a food desert.

The article takes readers on a journey through small-town Turkey, Texas, and examines the difficulties with comments from the mayor of Turkey. It is an insightful piece, and one I hope you read.

Nathan Giese, sports reporter, and Annie Rice, photographer, spent months looking into the story behind Andre Emmett. The Texas Tech basketball star was killed in September 2019 in what law enforcement called a "robbery gone wrong."

Giese and Rice spoke to his mother in Dallas, and several others who recalled his legacy. It is emotional, and certainly worth a read.

Mateo Rosiles, breaking news reporter, wrote a unique piece on gifting experiences, instead of things. Lately, people have been gifting experiences, like trips or opportunities to do something.

The article offers seven experiences, ranging from golfing to creating art and interacting with animals.

It may be past Thanksgiving, but I'm truly thankful to be part of such a great team.

Next week, stay tuned for the November business round up and a feature on a combined business that plans to make comforting snacks that will be perfect for your holiday foodie friends.

As always, thank you for reading and supporting the A-J.
