Burlington store moving west to new storefront in Delta Township
DELTA TWP. — Burlington, a retailer that sells clothing and home decor, plans to move from the storefront it occupies off West Saginaw Highway to a shopping development just over 2 miles away.
The store has occupied a 75,000-square-foot space at 5625 W. Saginaw Hwy., adjacent to Aldi and Big Lots, for more than a decade, but now will move to a smaller storefront to be built at Delta Crossings, a retail development west of Interstate 96/69.
"We're moving the current store," said Steve Flaten, a real estate director for Burlington, last week while declining to discuss specifics.
Delta Township issued a building permit for the construction of a new 25,000-square-foot Burlington store in February, according to Peter Menser, the township's community & economic development director.
The store will be located "in the undeveloped area between Bob’s Discount Furniture and Sierra," Menser said in an email. Menser said work at the site is underway.
In addition to Sierra and Bob's, Delta Crossings is home to several businesses, including T.J. Maxx, Hobby Lobby and B.J.'s Wholesale Club.
It's unclear when the move will happen. Julia DePillis, a representative for Burlington, said in an email that she had no information to share "but if information for this location becomes available, we can reach back out with further details."
The property Burlington currently occupies is now listed for lease. The property is a former Kmart store renovated in 2004, Menser said.
