Buchanan and Poway met for a second wrestling dual, this time in Southern California
The Buchanan and Poway high school wrestling teams met for a second consecutive season.
Only this time, the Bears traveled to the San Diego area on Saturday.
Buchanan, ranked No. 1 in the state by CalGrappler, defeated No. 4 Poway 31-23 in a dual meet.
The Bears had a 10-0 lead before Poway picked up its first win.
Poway kept close in the dual before Sloan Swan’s pins at 172 pounds restored the Bears’ 10-point lead.
Buchanan and Poway met last season in a unique outdoor dual at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis.
In that matchup, the Bears rolled to a 50-9 win in front of 500 fans.
Next up for the Bears is the Tri-River Athletic Conference tournament that will be held at 9 a.m. Feb. 4 at Clovis East.
