Once again, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have re-signed a major contributor from the 2020-21 Super Bowl run. This time, it is relative newcomer and Tom Brady ally Antonio Brown.

The wide receiver was a controversial mid-season addition to the team, after serving his eight-game league suspension following the sexual assault allegations he faced in 2019. Those cost him a spot with Brady on the New England Patriots, who cut him after just one game with the team.

The most prominent allegations made against Brown came from a former Central Michigan classmate and trainer. The two sides recently settled the dispute, with the attorney for the accuser saying that both sides decided that it was “time to move on.”

It is unclear if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers waited for his legal issues to be resolved, but now that they appear to be behind him, the team has locked him up for 2021. It is unclear what the market for AB was, but they’re getting a very dangerous route runner for a pretty deep discount as well.

Brown and Brady have been connected at the hip since he joined the Patriots. When he signed with Tampa, he lived in Brady’s home as he acclimated with the team.

Playing alongside star receivers like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, Antonio Brown turned in a pretty productive half-season with the Bucs after being added. He caught 45 passes for 483 yards and four scores, adding eight catches for 81 yards and a score in the playoffs.

Tampa has re-signed just about every major player whose contract was up from last year’s team. Tom Brady and company are gearing up for a run at a repeat title in a big way.
