Buccaneers Announce Official Decision On Antonio Brown

After weeks of speculation, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made a final decision on Antonio Brown’s contract for the 2021 season.

On Tuesday, the Buccaneers announced that they’ve re-signed Brown. There were reports in April that he was signing a one-year, $6 million deal with the defending Super Bowl champions, but he was unable to pass a physical due to a procedure on his knee.

Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht spoke to the media about Brown last week, telling reporters “The plan all along is to have him come in.” Now, all the doubt about Brown’s future with the franchise can be put to rest.

Although he didn’t join the team until the middle of the 2020 season, Brown played a significant role in their Super Bowl run. He finished the regular season with 45 receptions for 483 yards and four touchdowns.

Brown actually had a touchdown reception in the second quarter of this year’s Super Bowl. It was very apparent that he has strong chemistry with Tom Brady, on and off the field.

If Brown can stay out of trouble off the field, Tampa Bay should have the best trio of wideouts in the NFL. It’s nearly impossible to slow down Brown, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin at once.

As for Brown’s recent knee surgery, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport described it as a minor procedure to “clean-out” some issues.

The Buccaneers should remain a title contender for the 2021 season, especially since the front office retained all of their marquee free agents.
