Bryce Hopkins spent just one year in Lexington before entering the transfer portal on Apr. 7. The former Kentucky wing has since made his transfer decision. The former four-star recruit is joining Ed Cooley’s program at Providence.

Hopkins announced the news himself on Twitter, sharing the following caption: “Friar Forever.”

Hopkins averaged just 6.6 minutes per game for the Kentucky Wildcats last season. He scored 2.1 points and grabbed 1.4 rebounds in limited sample size.

He’s the second former Kentucky player to leave the program this offseason. He joins Dontaie Allen, who’s heading to Western Kentucky.

Hopkins’ decision has the college basketball world buzzing:

“Former Cat lands at Providence…”

“Best of luck to you! Do your thang young man!”

“Former Kentucky Wildcats forward Bryce Hopkins has committed to Providence of the Big East as a transfer. Hopkins has 3 seasons of eligibility remaining”

“Really loved watching @BryceHopkins play for UK this past season. I wish he had gotten more of an opportunity to shine, but we def wouldn’t have won at Rupp v. LSU without him… Go do great things, young man!”

“Kentucky transfer Bryce Hopkins is official – off to Providence, who should be a Top-15 team entering the season.”

Hopkins will be a big player for Providence next season.
