Brunello Cucinelli on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach to expand

One of Worth Avenue's luxury retailers is poised to expand its footprint on the iconic shopping street.

Brunello Cucinelli at 216-218 Worth Ave. will move part of its operation to the second floor of the building it now occupies, following a unanimous Town Council vote during the April 10 Development Review Committee meeting.

The council granted a special exception to the boutique to occupy more than 4,000 square feet of space. The brand currently operates in about 2,850 square feet of space on the building's first floor, said Roger Ramdeen with Shutts and Bowen, representing Brunello Cucinelli.

The boutique plans to lease the second floor of 218 Worth Ave., which would increase the total space to 4,107 square feet, prompting the need for a special exception, he said.

That second-floor space will be used only for what are known as back-of-house operations: storage, office space, a pantry for employees, a changing area for staff and space for a tailor to work, Ramdeen said.

Council President Pro-Tem Lew Crampton noted that no sales would be conducted from the second floor.

"Someone could easily have added back-of-house space and no one would have been the wiser," Councilman Ted Cooney said. "They're doing the right thing" by requesting the special exception.

The store first opened on Worth Avenue in 2016, making it, at the time, the designer's 118th store worldwide.
