Bruce Arians shocked the NFL world on Wednesday night. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach is retiring.

Arians’ decision came out of the blue. It comes just weeks after Tom Brady un-retired and announced he’ll play for the Bucs this upcoming season.

On Thursday the Buccaneers held a retirement press conference for Arians. During it he had a honest admission on his decision.

He clearly felt like it was the right time to step away.

“When you know it’s time, it’s time,” he said.

Bruce Arians is walking out a winner. Sure, the Buccaneers didn’t win a Super Bowl last season, but his team was one of the NFL’s best.

Tampa Bay is going to miss him. However, fans are thrilled for the Todd Bowles era to begin.

“I am appreciative of the Glazer family and Jason Licht for having faith in me to take on this role, and to Coach Arians for his support and guidance over the past four decades,” said Bowles. via Buccaneers.com.

“Tampa has become home for my family, and we are excited to remain part of this community for years to come. As an organization, we have all the pieces in place to continue the winning standard that has been established here in recent years. I am eager to get started with our players, coaching staff, and front office in preparation for the 2022 season.”

Congratulations on a great career, Bruce. Enjoy retirement.
