Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Melissa Fumero Pays Tribute to Andre Braugher: ‘I Really Thought I’d See You Again’

One of Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s other lead actors, Melissa Fumero, has shared her thoughts on frequent scene partner Andre Braugher’s passing.

Fumero, who played over-eager Amy Santiago to Braugher’s stoic Captain Raymond Holt on the Fox-turned-NBC police comedy, on Wednesday posted to Instagram a heartfelt message alongside series of photos, leading with a BTS pic of her and Braugher heartily laughing after getting unexpectedly doused by a wave whilst filming the “Beach House” episode.

“I will remember all the advice you gave me. I will remember all the times we laughed because your laugh was one of the all time greatest laughs to have ever existed,” Fumero wrote. “I will remember the deep love and loyalty you had for your family. I will remember it every time I ask work to make time for me to be with my family. I will remember how you sent me pictures of Fall trees in NJ because you knew how much I missed that time of year back east. I will remember you calling me Melly Fumé. I will remember so much.

“I really thought I’d see you again,” Fumero concluded, before offering her condolences to Braugher’s wife Ami and their sons, and “all his friends and loved ones.”

“It was an honor to be in your orbit for a time, Sir,” Fumero wrote, evoking the uber-respectful Amy-Captain Holt dynamic. “May you Rest in Peace my friend.”

Braugher, whose TV credits also included Homicide: Life on the Street, Thief and Men of a Certain Age, died on Dec. 11, following a brief illness. He was 61. Of his 11 Emmy nominations, four were for his work on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He won twice, for his roles as Homicide‘s Frank Pembleton and Thief‘s Nick Atwater.
