Brooke Shields Recalls Scary Health Emergency From Drinking Too Much Water

Brooke Shields is opening up a recent health scare that landed her in the hospital, with Bradley Cooper by her side, no less.

In her new Glamour 2023 Women of the Year cover story, 58-year-old model and actress revealed that she suffered a grand mal seizure during the week of her cabaret debut, which was apparently caused by drinking too much water.

Yes, you read that right. The Pretty Baby star consumed too much water while preparing for her one-woman show, Previously Owned by Brooke Shields at New York City's Café Carlyle. As a result, she ended up suffering a seizure in a nearby restaurant, an experience she detailed as, "frothing at the mouth, totally blue, trying to swallow my tongue."

"I didn't know I was low in sodium," Shields recounted to the outlet. "I was waiting for an Uber. I get down to the bottom of the steps, and I start evidently looking weird, and [the people I was with] were like, ‘Are you okay?'"

After feeling a little off, Shields walked into the N.Y.C. restaurant L'Artusi. "I go in, two women come up to me; I don’t know them. Everything starts to go black. Then my hands drop to my side and I go headfirst into the wall," she recalled.

The next thing she remembers, Shields was being 'loaded into an ambulance" with an oxygen mask on when she noticed none other than Cooper, 48, sitting next to her.

"Bradley f--king Cooper is sitting next to me holding my hand," she explained, as she remembered thinking to herself, "This is what death must be like. You wake up and Bradley Cooper's going, 'I'm going to the hospital with you, Brooke,' and he's holding my hand."

"And I'm looking at my hand, I'm looking at Bradley Cooper's hand in my hand, and I'm like, 'This is odd and surreal,'" she continued.

While explaining how exactly Cooper ended up accompanying her to the hospital, the Endless Love actress said the sommelier first tried reaching Shields' husband Chris Henchy, and was connected to an assistant, who reached out to another assistant, and ended up getting in touch with Cooper, who was nearby.

"His assistant called Bradley and said, 'Brooke’s on the ground. Chris isn’t around. Go get her,'" Shields stated. "And he came, and somebody called the ambulance. And then it was like, I walked in with Jesus."

Shields ended up going to the ICU, where her doctors determined she had low sodium in her body and drank too much water, basically flooding her system.

Luckily, Shields is better now and is currently in her 'f--k it' era, according to her conversation in the new cover story.
