Bronson's Harris and Webb combine for back-to-back perfect games in Viking sweep

BRONSON – Tuesday night the Bronson Vikings were the epitome of efficiency. Two games, three innings each, 18 batters up and 18 batters down, as the pitching duo of Ashlynn Harris and Mya Webb each pitched a three-inning perfect game as the Vikings swept Maple Valley by scores of 17-0 and 17-0.

Game one saw Harris take the win on the mound after throwing three innings of perfect softball. Harris allowed no hits, walks, or runs while striking out eight batters.

Harris also did the job at the plate, finishing 2 for 2 with a triple. Also adding to the Bronson win was Brealyn Lasky with a single and a double with one RBI and a steal; Ciara Blankenship with a single, an RBI and a stolen base; and Roni Bir with a single and a stolen base.

The Bronson offense also took advantage of 16 walks put up by the Concord pitching staff.

In game two it was Webb with the dominant effort on the mound. Webb secured the perfect game with three innings pitched while allowing no hits, runs or walks, to go along six strikeouts.

It was Blankenship bringing the big bat in game two, going 2 for 3 with a single and a triple and two RBIs while Harris finished 2 for 3 with two singles, one RBI and a stolen base.

Also adding to the Viking win was Lasky with a single and a stolen base; Bir with two singles, an RBI, and a stolen base; Kailynne Scare with a single and a double with one RBI; and Braelynn Gimenez with a single.

Bronson once again saw their patience at the plate pay off as the team drew 15 walks.

“The pitchers threw great today and the team played with a lot of energy,” Bronson coach Becky Gray said.

With the win Bronson improves to 6-0 in the Big 8 and 7-4 overall. The Vikings will return to action on Thursday versus Buchanan.

Quincy splits with Springport

SPRINGPORT – The Quincy Orioles battled to a Big 8 split with Springport Tuesday night, taking game one 7-2 before falling in game two 11-8.

Game one saw Springport take an early 2-1 lead, only for Quincy to score five unanswered runs the rest of the way for the win.

Danika Skirka took the win on the mound after throwing all seven innings while allowing five hits and two runs with one walk and three strikeouts.

Payton Gross led the way at the plate, finishing 3 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Danika Skirka also added a double with two RBIs, while Mikayla Feltner and Josie Mescher both drove in a run.

Game two saw Springport take a 4-0 lead early only to see Quincy chip away and tie the score at 4-4 after four full innings. The Spartans however exploded for seven runs over the next two innings to build an 11-4 lead. Quincy once again chipped away, scoring one in the fifth, three in the sixth, and one in the seventh but it just was not enough as the Spartans took the 11-8 win.

Quincy actually out hit Springport 12-10 for the game, led by Gross who finished the game going 3 for 4 with three RBIs.

Miley Pointdexter, Kaylee Modert, and Mickayla Feltner all added multi-hit games while Modert, Feltner, and Danika Skirka all drove in runs.

Danika Skirka took the loss on the mound after throwign all seven innings, allowing 10 hits and 11 runs with three walks and three strikeouts.

Quincy’s record now sits at 8-5 overall on the season.
