Bronson track sweeps Maple Valley, both boys and girls win 12 of 17 events in victory

MAPLE VALLEY – The Bronson Viking track and field program took the long trip to Maple Valley on Wednesday and the trip proved to be worth it. The Vikings brought home a pair of Big 8 conference wins, with the boys winning 87-41 and the girls taking the 77-44 win.

The Bronson boys' victory was paced by several multi-event winners, starting with Jack Ganton who dominated in the long-distance races, winning the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5 minutes, 33.66 seconds and the 3,200 run in a time of 13:59.62.

Junior Boston Bucklin also had a pair of individual wins on the day, winning the 400 in a time of 55.29 seconds and the high jump with a jump of 5 feet, 8 inches.

Also taking wins for Bronson was Tyler Wilber, first place in the 800 with a time of 2:21.27; Brier Greet, first place in the 110 hurdles in a time of 23.52 seconds; Stevie Wilson, first place in the 300 hurdles in a time of 46.27 seconds; the 400 relay team of Hoard, Carsen Scare, Dallas Wilson, and Devin Stuart, first place in a time of 50.56 seconds; the 800 relay team of Kam Brackett, Bucklin, Wilson, and Wilber, first place in a time of 1:39.23; and the 1,600 relay team of Brackett, Wilber, Wilson, and Pietro Manca, first place in a time of 3:57.33.

Rounding out the Bronson effort with a top three finish was Kam Brackett, second place in the 100; Wilson, second place in the 200; Hoard, third place in the 200; Jovani Ramos, third place in the 800 and second place in the 1,600; Tyler Wilber, third place in the 1,600; Jacob Britten, second place in the 3,200; Devin Stuart, second place in the 300 hurdles; Brier Green, third place in the 300 hurdles; Jace Hoard, second place in the discus; Lance Salek third place in the discus; Kam Brackett second place in the high jump; and Stevie Wilson third place in the high jump.

Bronson girls in 12 of 17 events to take win at Maple Valley

The Bronson dominated nearly the entire meet, winning 12 of the 17 events on their way to the road win over the host Lions. In all Bronson had four athletes win multiple events, led by Jaiden Hayes who continued her hurdle dominance, winning the 100 hurdles in a time of 19.08 seconds and the 300 hurdles in a time of 51.52 seconds. Hayes also won the long jump at the dual, winning with a jump of 14 feet, 11.5 inches.

Pacing the sprints was sophomore Itzel Albarran who took wins in the 100 in a time of 13.95 and in the 200 in a time of 29.43.

In the middle distance, it was freshman Miriam Sanchez taking the two wins, winning the 400 in 1:11.82 and the 800 in 2:55.25.

Skylar Smith also made it a clean sweep in the throwing events, winning the shot put with a throw of 26 feet, 0 inches and the discus with a throw of 84 feet 0 inches. Smith also brought home the win in the high jump, winning with a jump of 4 feet, 10 inches.

Bronson also won the two relay events they competed in, winning the 400 relay with a team of Albarran, Addison Calloway, Sanchez, and Hayes in 1:07.36. Bronson also secured a win in the 800 relay with the team of Sanchez, Smith, Yelssi Herrera, and Calloway, first place in a time of 1:59.17.

Rounding out the Bronson effort with a top three finish was Abbi Ferry, third place in the 800, second place in the 1,600, and third place in the shot put; Zoay Herbert, second place in the shot put and second place in the discus; Addison Calloway, second place in the pole vault; and Itzel Albarran, second place the long jump.
