Brittany Mahomes Is on Fire in Her 'SI Swimuit' Rookie Debut

Brittany Mahomes has officially been named a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit rookie of 2024, joining Lori Harvey in another surprise debut.

"Brittany emerges as the epitome of a modern-day powerhouse,” editor in chief MJ Day said while announcing the news. “Founder of the world’s first ever dedicated stadium for women’s sports, Brittany’s journey has surpassed all expectations, inspiring others with her tenacity and unyielding determination. We are proud to welcome her to the SI Swimsuit family where she will undoubtedly continue to empower women worldwide.”

The 28-year-old is an athlete in her own right, taking her college soccer career pro when she played at UMF Afturelding in Iceland. However, by the end of her first season, she said she "truly began to fall in love with being in the gym more than being on the soccer field" on her website.

She took her passion for fitness and her Bachelor's degree in kinesiology and became a certified personal trainer who now runs an at-home workout program called Brittany Lynne Fitness. She also serves as a minority owner on the Kansas City Current, a professional women's soccer team. She and her husband, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, helped fund their new stadium—the first built specifically for a women's team.

“These women deserve to feel important and have their own facility so that they can perform at their best,” she told the publication. “I hope this sets the bar for women’s sports everywhere and other cities continue to build around women’s sports. Just like young boys get to dream of playing football at stadiums like Arrowhead, I want young girls everywhere to aspire to play at stadiums like CPKC.”

Brittany, who shares two young children with her husband, was photographed by Derek Kettela in San Pedro Ambergris Caye, Belize, ahead of the issue's 60th anniversary, set to hit shelves in May.

She was absolutely on fire in a Chiefs red one-piece that featured an oblong cutout down the length of her chest and abdomen, as well as smaller cutouts on the side. The crisscrossed straps created two more cutouts at the top of her chest, and the deep V of the bottom of the suit showed off her hips, too.

Her blonde hair looked perfectly windswept as it fell loosely down her back, and she opted for a gently smokey eye and neutral-toned pink lipstick for glam.

“I’m truly just so humbled and still in disbelief,” Brittany said of the spread. “As a girl from Tyler, Texas, who only really knew sports, never in a million years did I think I’d be in [the SI Swimsuit Issue]. I’m just so grateful for this opportunity.”

“I think of all the incredible athletes I’ve grown up watching over the years,” Mahomes says. Athletes like Alex Morgan, Sue Bird and Ronda Rousey have all graced the pages of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. “Just seeing elite athletes go out of their comfort zone [and pose for the magazine] is so inspiring!”

Brittany is no stranger to the spotlight, though, often coming under scrutiny as the media and football fans alike watch her every move. Just last month she clapped back after internet users accused of her being on a "high horse" after feeling like she exhibited rude behavior in a viral video where she was confused about where to go within the stadium during a Chiefs game.

“I take rumors as a compliment,” she said in a social media post shortly after. “The fact that you’re bringing my name onto tables I don’t sit at shows your obsession. Stay bothered."

She described herself as “unapologetically always myself in any setting,” and has also spoken out in defense of Taylor Swift ever since the "Midnight Rain" singer started making appearances at NFL games earlier this season, leading some hardcore football fans to accuse the touring artist of ruining the sport, seemingly becoming fast friends with the newest team WAG.
