Britney Spears is speaking to ongoing rumors that she's working on her next album.

The musician took to Instagram on the evening of Wednesday, Jan. 3, where she made sure her followers were "clear" on what's been going on, calling "most of the news trash," using a portrait of a woman holding a man's head on a platter by Baroque Italian painter Guido Reni to make her statement.

"They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album," she said, emphatically adding, "I will never return to the music industry !!!"

She continued, "When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people !!! For those of you who have read my book, there’s loads that you don’t know about me …" Spears has, of course, appeared on songs with Elton John and Will.I.Am since ending her conservatorship, but she has yet to drop a single of her own.

In 2021, Spears' 13-year conservatorship came to an end, allowing her to take back control of her career. While she seemingly has no intention of ever recording or performing her music again, the "Lucky' songstress revealed that she hasn't exited the scene completely.

According to her statement, Spears has written "over 20 songs" that have gone to other artists in the past couple of years. "I’m a ghostwriter and I honestly enjoy it that way !!!" she wrote, though she offered no hints as to on which tracks or from what artists fans can hear her latest work.

Spears dropped her juicy memoir, "The Woman in Me," on Oct. 24, 2023.
