In tonight’s (June 1) episode, the fourth semi-final, the head judge and co-host were the subject of a prank by musical-theatre troupe Boycanto, who made good on Simon’s word to be as “rude as possible” following the audition.

Performing to Madness’ ‘Baggy Trousers’, the group gunged a teacher on stage before setting their sights on Simon, planting a pie in his face, much to everyone’s amusement.

As the boys lapped up the acclaim from the crowd and other judges, Simon was determined not to be the only person to get pied, walking around the stage as he searched for another victim.

After some back and forth with his fellow judges and Declan Donnelly, he eventually settled on Ant, who is no stranger to an accident following his slip earlier in the week.

The audience weren’t the only ones delighted with Boycanto’s routine, with users on social media finding the performance infectious.

“@SimonCowell you should get that one framed @BGT” wrote one user about Cowell being pied, with another writing: “The kid's face!!!!! He means every bit of force in that pie!”

The fourth semi-final saw Malakai Bayoh and Duo Odyssey progress to the final, with the latter edging past MB14 after the judges were deadlocked. The pair have joined Musa Motha, Amy Lou, Viggo Venn, Olivia Lynes, Ghetto Kids and Travis George in the showpiece event, with the remaining two places to be decided in tomorrow’s semi-final.

Britain's Got Talent airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
