Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden will explore the history of sex in an upcoming docu-drama.

Joining forces with historian Dan Jones, Amanda will explore how sexual behaviours through the ages have shaped civilisations.

The series, titled Sex: A Bonkers History, will use archive footage and drama reconstruction, with Amanda and Dan shedding light on history's best unknown sex stories, from the first contraceptive in ancient Egypt to the sexual appetites of the Tudors.

It will mark the first Sky show presented by Holden, who has been a judge on Britain's Got Talent for more than 15 years.

Taking to Instagram on Friday (June 30), Amanda uploaded two pictures of herself wearing a low-cut pink dress, as she delved into filming the show.

"My goodness, I've really had my eyes opened but had a real laugh, during the filming of this brilliant new series," she said. "Believe me when I say our generation knows nothing about sex compared to the debauched antics of our ancestors!

"I left the brilliant @d_a_n_jones to get his hands dirty whilst I’ve been on the side-lines as a very entertained voyeur.

"Although perhaps shocking at times, #SexABonkersHistory is a truly fascinating & intellectual insight into our sexual history of the last 2500 years. This is horrible histories for grown-ups."

Guests across the series will include sex historian Dr Kate Lister and the late executive chair of Ann Summers, Jacqueline Gold, in her very last television interview.

Sex: A Bonkers History premieres on Sky HISTORY in September 2023.
