Brightline trains to hit 125 mph in new tests in Central Florida as Orlando service nears

If you are driving on a certain Central Florida expressway this spring you may see a yellow blur zoom by your window. Your eyes won’t be deceiving you. Brightline plans for its trains to be going as fast as 125 mph in new tests on its recently built rail line.

Starting as early as Wednesday, Brightline started testing its trains to go the maximum speed along the 35-mile rail corridor that runs parallel to State Road 528, or the Beachline Expressway, that runs between Orange and Brevard Counties, the passenger train company said.

While the train will ride alongside motorists, they will not be impacted as there are no public grade crossings where vehicles will cross the tracks.

The trains will be tested between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily throughout the spring in preparation for the Orlando Brightline Station to connect to South Florida.
