‘A brief stop in heaven.’ Poll finds the best steak dinner in Whatcom County
We asked readers where to find the best steak dinner in Whatcom County and the votes are in.
The poll had nine local restaurant options in Whatcom County including Herb Niemann’s Steak House, Dirty Dan Harris Steakhouse and Keenan’s on the Pier. The unscientific poll received a total of 195 votes.
The best steak dinner in Whatcom County
The Steak House at the Silver Reef Casino Resort received 69 votes and was named as having the best steak dinner in Whatcom County.
“We use only USDA Prime steaks that are hand cut from the finest Northwest grain-fed cattle. We prepared them on an 1,800-degree broiler to lock in the natural juices and finish with our signature steak butter,” Jay Galleon, maître d’ of The Steak House wrote in an email to The Bellingham Herald.
The restaurant feature dishes such as lobster bisque, filet mignon, 24-ounce porterhouse steak, slow-roasted prime rib and seafood, as well as a 25-page wine list.
The restaurant is also praised on Yelp, receiving a 4-star rating from 84 Yelp reviews, with one reviewer calling their visit “a brief stop in heaven.”

The Steak House is open from 5-9 p.m. Sunday and Thursday and from 5-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and is located inside the Silver Reef Casino Resort at 4876 Haxton Way in Ferndale.
Following The Steak House with a close 65 votes was Herb Niemann’s Steak House.
Herb Niemann’s Steak and Schnitzel House is known for dishes such as schnitzel cordon bleu, crab-stuffed prawns, rib-eye steaks and 18-ounce porterhouse steaks.
The steak house is also popular online, receiving a 4-star rating from 108 reviews on Yelp.

Herb Niemann’s Steak and Schnitzel House is open from 4-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday and from 4-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The restaurant is located in Everson at 203 West Main St.
Dirty Dan Harris Steakhouse came in third place with 31 votes, followed by Lighthouse Bar and Grill with 10 votes and Anthony’s Hearthfire Grill and Lombardi’s Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar tied with six votes.
