Bridgerton's Jonathan Bailey could potentially be fronting the next Jurassic World movie.

The actor, who also stars in the upcoming Wicked movies and Final Fantasy XIV, is in talks for the next era of Universal's hugely successful franchise, reports Deadline.

The studio is intending for the film to be the start of a new era, meaning Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and the like aren't expected to return.

Instead, Scarlett Johansson is reportedly in talks to lead the film alongside Bailey, while Godzilla 2014 and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Gareth Edwards has apparently been offered the job of director after impressing Steven Spielberg and fellow producer Frank Marshall.

Originally, Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train director David Leitch was in talks to helm the film, but due to creative differences, he parted ways with the studio.

Jurassic World Dominion, the latest film in the series, opened to the weakest critical reception of all six films. A few months after its release in 2022, Colin Trevorrow said he tried to do something different with it because most of the sequels have done the same thing.

"It's inherently unfranchisable. There probably should have only been one Jurassic Park," he said at the time.

"But if we're gonna do it, how can I allow them to tell stories in a world in which dinosaurs exist, as opposed to, 'Here's another reason why we're going to an island?'"

The next Jurassic World movie is set to be released in cinemas on July 2, 2025. Meanwhile, Bridgerton season 3 is set to premiere on Netflix on May 16 this year.
