For actors who play villainous, conniving, or even just self-seeking characters, there's a chance fans might end up turning their negative feelings for the character on them. But in Bridgerton actor Jessica Madsen's opinion, that's a sign that she's doing good work.

As Season 3 of Bridgerton airs on Netflix, Madsen told People in a new interview that she's gotten “interesting comments and some interesting DMs” from fans, noting that "people are not the biggest fan of" her character Cressida.

But Madsen had a positive response to the fan reactions, saying, "It makes me feel like I've done my job right...I really don't take those things personally."

She also shared some examples of the sorts of responses she has gotten, saying that fans have said things like, "Thank you for letting me hate you so much," and "I love hating you so much."

Calling the internet "wild," Madsen added that she loves hearing from fans who "have appreciated the show," saying it's "lovely."

On social media, Madsen marked the start of Season 3 with some behind-the-scenes photos that she shared with fans, asking them their thoughts on the new episodes.

With the season showing a bit more of Cressida's personal life and feelings, it seems like some are coming around to the character's side, with one fan writing that the season is "Beyond my wildest dreams! Also loving the forming redemption arc for Cressida! 👏."

Another said they were "Rooting for Cressida" as more hoped she would find a romantic match in the future. Someone even declared, "Cressida defender for life."

While there are surely still fans out there who dislike Madsen's Bridgerton character, it seems like quite a few are starting to see her side. The actress described her story this season by noting, “The mask is falling off Cressida. She's becoming a human being."

The first part of Bridgerton Season 3 was released on Netflix on May 16, while the second part will drop on the streamer on June 13.
