The 'Bridgerton' Season 3 Trailer Is Finally Here

"Dearest Gentle Reader, we have been apart for far too long," Lady Whistledown (Julie Andrews) narrates at the start of the Bridgerton season three trailer.

And it's true: There has been a big gap between season two (which dropped in March 2022) and the forthcoming season three, which will premiere in two parts this upcoming May and June. (There was the Queen Charlotte prequel in May 2023, between the two seasons, and that storyline will impact the third season.)

The trailer offers a tantalizing glimpse of the new season: We see Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) making her debut in society, a steamy scene between newlyweds Kate (Simone Ashley) and Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), and a new friendship, it seems, between Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and Cressida (Jessica Madsen).

But the real heart of the season will be the romance between Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton). The season is based on the fourth Bridgerton novel by Julia Quinn, Romancing Mister Bridgerton.

"I cannot live at home any longer," Penelope declares in the trailer. "I must take a husband." In a later scene, Colin tells her, "If I husband is what you seek, let me help you. Are we not friends?" It seems as if Colin will help Penelope learn how to charm men. Their storyline, in the books, is friends-to-lovers, so it makes sense that their friendship will form the basis of at least part of season three. Lord Debling (Sam Phillips) appears to be one of Penelope's suitors, as Colin looks on in jealous.

"What is the primary force that guides us on our paths? Is it our minds, or our hearts?" Lady Whistledown asks. (Watch the full trailer above.) We'll have to tune in to find out: Bridgerton season 3, part 1 premieres on May 16, and part 2 drops on June 13.
