No one could have imaged that when a California woman's planned wedding took a devastating turn for the worse that it would turn into something magical.

According to NBC Bay Area, a local woman was forced to cancel her wedding at the last minute when she discovered some unsettling information about her fiancé. Unfortunately, the wedding was canceled two weeks before the ceremony was set to take place, making it far too late to receive a full refund for the $15,000 spent on the reception.

But in a charming example of turning lemons into lemonade, the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, opted to gift the lavish $15,000 ceremony to the San Jose-based nonprofit Parents Helping Parents. The organization, which had previously helped the woman's family, provides support to children and adults with special needs. Assistance is also provided to their families.

“I've never heard of anyone ever calling a nonprofit and saying, 'We want to donate a $15,000 party in two weeks to you.' This just doesn't happen. I don’t expect in my career to ever see this again," PHP executive director Maria Daane shared with NBC Bay Area.

The party took place last weekend at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Gilroy, California, and was attended by 100 guests. As PEOPLE reported, partiers "poured into the club's ballroom to enjoy the party, where they enjoyed music, food, and other amenities donated by the bride." And if video from the festive affair is any indicator, it was definitely the place to be int he Bay Area last weekend! Fireworks and all!
