Family members and friends are mourning the loss of an 18-year-old Brick woman who died last weekend of injuries she suffered in a crash in Manchester on April 14.

Catalina Reinoso, 18, who graduated from Brick Township High School last year, was injured in the single-vehicle collision that occurred at 2 a.m. that Sunday on Lacey Road, a family member said.

Neither the Manchester Police Department nor the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office has released details of the crash, saying it remains under investigation.

Catalina's sister, Valentina Reinoso, said there were others in the sedan that crashed, but her younger sister, one of several passengers, was the only one in the car severely injured.

Catalina worked at Marshalls in Brick and had just been accepted into Rowan University and Stockton University, her sister said. She was planning to become an ultrasound technician.

Catalina was "always happy and positive," and had a gift for drawing people together in both fun and tough times, her sister said.

"She brought everyone together all the time," Valentina Reinoso said. "She had so many friends, and everyone loved her. She always made friends with random people wherever she was."

After the family's beloved dog died two months ago, it was Catalina who rallied her grieving family members, Valentina Reinoso said.

"Even though she was upset too, she took us out to eat and we had a good family time - me and my mom and my brother. And then we went to the (Belmar) beach." Valentina Reinoso said. "It was all her idea."

Catalina died surrounded by her family. Her donated organs went to nine recipients, Valentina said.

A GoFundMe effort to help offset Catalina's medical expenses reached $18,195 by Thursday evening.
