Is Brian ‘Q’ Quinn from ‘Impractical Jokers’ in a Liberty Mutual commercial? — you’re not alone in wondering
If you’ve been wondering if “Impractical Jokers” star Brian “Q” Quinn is the guy in that caricature-themed Liberty Mutual commercial, you’re not alone.
In fact, it’s the third most-popular question that automatically pops up when web search users type in the words “Is Brian Quinn…,” according to the comedian’s co-star Joe Gatto.
Gatto revealed the news on Thursday night’s episode of TruTV’s “Impractical Jokers: Dinner Party,” a spinoff of the main series that was spawned while the stars are stuck home during coronavirus lockdowns and unable to shoot their hidden camera show.
While the four stars were chowing down — this week’s meal was breakfast-for-dinner — Gatto was running through the results that came up for each cast member when he typed in their name after the word “is.”
For Quinn, Gatto’s top three results were: “Is Brian Quinn married,” “Is Brian Quinn single,” and finally, “Is Brian Quinn in Liberty Mutual commercial.”
Apparently, the answer is no. Quinn, who’s 44 and was raised on Staten Island, seemed surprised at the question.
“Who the f--- is in a Liberty Mutual commercial that looks like me,” he asked, while his pals laughed hysterically. “What’s going on?”
Gatto responded, “I don’t know, we’ve got to look into it.”
“Is this why I don’t get commercials?”, Quinn asked, “Because there’s a bargain basement Brian Quinn out there, riding around undercutting me?”
James “Murr” Murray, who also stars on the show, shot back, “Q, I got news for you, you’re the bargain basement Brian Quinn.”
The Daily News tracked down the commercial in question, and its star does indeed look like Quinn.
The 30-second ad for the insurance company begins with a woman drawing on a canvas in front of a backdrop of New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty. She’s of course talking about insurance, and explains, “As a caricature artist, I appreciate what makes each person unique. That’s why I like Liberty Mutual. They get that no two people are alike and customize your car insurance.”
She then tells the guy she’s drawing, “Almost done,” and flips the picture around to show him. It’s a marker-made cartoon of a man with a beard and in a giant cap who’s holding a long sandwich and standing in front of a camera on a tripod.
We then see the dude she drew, who’s dressed almost entirely in denim and whose face looks nearly identical to Quinn’s.
When the artist asks, “What do you think,” he responds, “I don’t see it.”
We’re wondering if Quinn does.
