The Green Bay Packers didn’t just lose their season opener on Sunday, they were flat-out embarrassed by the New Orleans Saints.

Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the offense struggled to consistently move the chains against the Saints. The defense, meanwhile, gave up five touchdown passes to Jameis Winston.

Despite losing by 35 points in Week 1, the Packers shouldn’t be panicking just yet. At least that’s what legendary quarterback Brett Favre said during Tuesday’s edition of SiriusXM Blitz with Brett Favre and Bruce Murray.

“There’s 17 (regular-season games) now versus 16, so yeah, you can write this off as a preseason game,” Favre said, via Sports Illustrated. “For example, it was the first time Aaron Rodgers got on the field. He obviously was rusty. They were not themselves. So, call it a tune-up, if you will. Is there cause to panic and be concerned? I would say panic? No. Concern? Yes. But again, it’s an extra regular-season game.”

Following the loss to the Saints, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said his team was humbled.

Green Bay could end up using its blowout loss to New Orleans as motivation for the rest of this season. But first, the reigning NFC North champions must take care of business against Detroit on Monday night.

Believe it or not, the Packers would actually be in first place in the NFC North with a Week 2 win over the Lions.
