Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend Kenneth Walker is ‘a million percent sure’ police didn’t identify themselves

Kenneth Walker, the boyfriend of Breonna Taylor, said he is “a million percent sure” Louisville police didn’t identify themselves before the March raid on his apartment that led to Taylor’s death.

In an interview with “CBS This Morning” set to air Wednesday, Walker tells Gayle King about the night of March 13 where Taylor was shot and killed by police conducting a raid on a no-knock warrant, from the knock at the door (“I never thought it was the police. Because why would the police be coming here?”) to the gunfire to the aftermath.

Walker has maintained for months that police did not identify themselves despite knocking heavily on the door.

“It was dead silent in the house,” he says. “And it was 12, 1 at night, or whatever time. So it was — it’s always quiet. We live in a quiet place. So if somebody was on the other side of the door saying anything, we would hear them.”

“That’s why I grabbed the gun. Didn’t have a clue,” Walker says. “I mean, if it was the police at the door and they just said, “We’re – we’re the police.” Me or Breonna didn’t have a reason at all not to open the door to see what they wanted.”

No drugs were found in Taylor’s home after the police raid and Jamarcus Glover, Taylor’s ex-boyfriend who was the target of the warrant, has maintained that Taylor was never involved in drug dealing.

In September, the Kentucky attorney general Daniel Cameron and a grand jury decided against charging any of the officers involved in Taylor’s death. Several of the officers may be subject to discipline from the Louisville Metro Police Department.
