Brooklyn Nets star guard Spencer Dinwiddie is reportedly heading to the Washington Wizards on a three-year, $62 million deal, per multiple sources.

The Wizards will send fourth-year forward Chandler Hutchinson and a 2022 second-round pick to San Antonio as part of a multi-team sign-and-trade deal. Brooklyn will receive a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 second round pick swap from Washington, per ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

Initial reports of a potential deal broke on Tuesday.

Dinwiddie, 28, played just three games with the Nets in 2020 before he suffered a season-ending ACL tear. The year before that in 2019-20, the veteran guard averaged a career-high 20.6 points and 6.8 assists per game.

Slated to be part of a crowded backcourt with 2020 additions James Harden and Kyrie Irving, Dinwiddie declined his $12.3 million player option with the Nets earlier this offseason and became an unrestricted free agent.

With the departure of former Wizards point guard Russell Westbrook last week, Dinwiddie should serve as a solid backcourt replacement alongside All-Star shooting guard Bradley Beal.

Dinwiddie and Beal are close friends and have reportedly been expressing interest in playing alongside each other.
