The Ohio State Buckeyes are getting the weekend off.

The Ohio State basketball team was scheduled to play the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday afternoon. There’s been a change of plans.

Nebraska is dealing with COVID-19 issues within the program and will have to reschedule.

“The Nebraska men’s basketball game at Ohio State scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 22, in Columbus, Ohio, has been postponed due to health and safety protocols within the Husker program,” the University of Nebraska announced.

“With players currently in health and safety protocol, Nebraska fell below the Big Ten Conference roster minimum, with fewer than seven scholarship players available.

“The programs will coordinate with the Big Ten Conference office to reschedule the game.”

This continues an unfortunate trend for the Ohio State basketball program. This is the fourth game this year that has been postponed or cancelled because of COVID-19 this season.

The Buckeyes are 12-4 this season. They’ve had a recent rough stretch, though, going 3-2 over their last five games. Ohio State’s losses came at the hands of Indiana and Wisconsin.

With Saturday’s game now called off, Ohio State will next play on Thursday, Jan. 27 against Minnesota.
