The latest thread that’s shaking up the Twitterverse is kiiind of out of left field! For those of us who remember packing our work breaks with *the* most random BuzzFeed quizzes and clickbait-y vids where people spent the day eating everything at their local Pizza Hut, the Try Guys is the ultimate comfort crew. Composed of members Keith Habersberger, Ned Fulmer, Zach Kornfeld, and Eugene Lee Yang, the team began at BuzzFeed and swiftly gained a loyal audience from viral videos before leaving to do their own thing.

All in all, the quartet has been *cue Larry David voice* pretty, pretty unproblematic. Enter: the messiest of messy years, aka 2022, wherein Adam Levine “crossed a line” and maybe cheated on Behati Prinsloo and Emily Ratajkowski is quite possibly dating Brad Pitt after her ex-husband Sebastian Bear-McClard allegedly cheated. Adding fuel to the dumpster fire breakup year? Ned just admitted to cheating on his wife, Ariel Fulmer, after a full-on investigation took place over the internet. Here’s what’s going on.

Okay, wait, tell me first: Who are the Try Guys?

The Try Guys are the aforementioned foursome—Keith Habersberger, Ned Fulmer, Zach Kornfeld, and Eugene Lee Yang, all of whom started out at BuzzFeed filming a series where they could, well, try things. In their first video (which looking back on is truly just 😬😬😬), they tried wearing women’s underwear and it went viral. After they grew an audience, the group became independent and since 2018 has amassed 8 million+ subscribers, per CNET. As is the case in any group, they all have different personas…but Ned lowkey branded himself as a “wife guy.” In almost every video, he’d lovingly gush over his wife, Ariel, with whom he has two sons, Wesley and Finn. 😬

Kay, so how is Ned wrapped up in cheating rumors?

To make a long story short, a fan created a Twitter thread to consolidate the info once fans began to realize that Ned was no longer making appearances in the newest Try Guys videos. Case in point? Both Ned and producer Alex Herring (ahem, the person he was caught cheating with) were seen in an Instagram pic with the rest of the group while they were promoting Keith’s Eat the Menu series at a Caesar’s Palace buffet. However, they were nawt seen in the final cut of the video. 👀

Fans *also* pointed out that “Ned does not appear in the past three videos or intros. He also was not in the past three podcast episodes” and Ariel wasn’t present in the previous two episodes of You Can Sit With Usa podcast hosted by the wives of the Try Guys.

Then things took a turn when a Reddit user disclosed messages alleging they saw Ned and Alex making out at New York City bar Niagara complete with multiple (!!) videos.

Messy!

Where does the group go from here?

Just two days after the rumors began to spread like wildfire, the group took to Instagram to announce that Ned had been fired from the company. (Since Ned and Alex both work for the company, corporate clearly got involved.) “Ned Fulmer is no longer working for the Try Guys. As a result of an internal review, we do not see a path forward together. We thank you for your support as we navigate through this change,” the official statement said.

After the announcement, Ned then posted on his own social media and confirmed that he had indeed been unfaithful to Ariel, saying, “Family should have always been my priority, but I lost focus and had a consensual workplace relationship. I’m sorry for any pain that my actions may have caused to the guys and the fans but most of all to Ariel. The only thing that matters right now is my marriage and my children, and that’s where I am going to focus my attention.”

Fans *also* noticed that many of the Try Guys employees—including Keith, Zach, and Eugene—unfollowed both Alex and Ned on social media. Will Thayer, aka Alex’s partner of 10 years, also unfollowed Alex before going private on Instagram.

The Try Guys Released a Video Laying Out the Timeline

Watch the full video below (it’s pretty short), but Keith confirmed that “on Labor Day weekend, multiple fans alerted us that they had seen Ned and an employee engaging in public romantic behavior.” He added that Ned confirmed the reports and confirmed that the relationship “had been going on for some time, which was obviously very shocking to us.”

The Try Guys also said that Ned will be edited out of footage and that some videos are “fully unreleasable” because he is in them. They spoke a bit more about the situation on a podcast, saying that firing Ned “felt like a breakup.”

Has Ariel said anything?

It didn’t take long for Ariel to break her silence, and she released a statement that read, “Thanks to everyone who has reached out to me—it means a lot. Nothing is more important to me and Ned than our family, and all we request right now is that you respect our privacy for the sake of our kids.”

Wait, there was an SNL skit on the sitch?

Recently, what made the whole scandal even *more* OMG-worthy is that Saturday Night Live did a skit on the saga and…it kind of failed miserably. TL;DR: The backlash from the Try Guys fans was beyond intense on Twitter and YouTube, where they argued that the piece (1) failed to highlight the power dynamic discrepancy between Ned and Alex and (2) seemed to actually poke fun at men who “hold other men accountable.”

Twitter users were also quick to point out that there is actually a link between one of the show’s writers and Ned, hence why the skit potentially seemed to undermine the severity of the situation:

*le sigh* So! Much! Drama!
